Outreach
Each Sunday in worship, we take a special offering in addition to regular tithes and offerings dedicated to local and regional mission projects. Missions the church has supported include:
- The Caring Center
- Early Head Start
- The Gideons
- Habitat for Humanity
- Head Start
- The Heifer Project
- Hemry Home for Girls
- Interfaith
- Jason’s Friends
- Life Steps Campus
- Mills Boys’ Home
- Poverty Resistance
- Salvation Army Children’s Lunch Program
- NCSD Grade Schools
- Self-Help Center
- Seton House
- Warren Village
- Wyoming Rescue Mission
- Youth Crisis Center and
- Youth for Christ
In addition to money, many members donate food, sheets, blankets, hats, gloves, clothing, and furnishings to local charities. We also support missions and missionaries worldwide through the United Methodist Church and UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Overseas Relief). We have also helped with the relief efforts for natural disasters such as the recent tsunami, tornadoes, and hurricanes through direct giving and UMCOR. Church members also serve meals at Wyoming Rescue Mission and do hands-on service with various Christian organizations. If you would like to be involved, please contact our Missions-Outreach Chairperson Barbara Reish at 237-9405.
Another important outreach is opening our building to various community organizations. Christ United Methodist Church sponsors Casper Troop 60 of the Boy Scouts, SOLOS Singles, and a TOPS chapter.
Boy Scout Troop 60 meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. upstairs, and is open to all boys who are interested. The troop has fine leadership, and encourages advancement, service, and reverence.
SOLOS Singles meets Sundays at 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Center. For more information on SOLOS, please contact Stella, 235-5914 or Jo Anne at 234-8528.
Communication is also an important outreach ministry of our church. We send a quarterly newsletter to all members and friends of the church. If you would like to be on our mailing list, contact Pastor Mac, at 234-6371.
Most of all, we do our best to grieve with those who are grieving, and rejoice with those who are rejoicing. We seek to provide our members and friends the support and comfort they need during times of grief, loss, and transition, including the ministry of conducting funerals. Likewise, the church gathers in joy to celebrate weddings and anniversaries.
